Diversity for HSL

Leading UK lighting and visuals rental and solutions provider HSL continued a massively busy touring season supplying lighting, LED screen, rigging and a Kinesys automation system to Production North for street dance troupe sensation, Diversity’s first major arena tour.

HSL has worked with Production North on many different projects. Once again, Mike Oates project managed for the Blackburn based company, with set, visuals and lighting designed by Peter Barnes, working in close conjunction with Diversity’s creative director and leader, Ashley Banjo.

On the road, lighting was looked after and operated by Neil Trenell. An HSL crew of six took care of lighting and video and the Kinesys system, together with rigger John Ashton, who put in the 58 points each day.

Sarah Hollis, production manager for Production North, remarked that it was “Excellent” to deal with one company and a single HSL crew chief – Steve Major – covering lighting, video, staging, rigging and automation departments. They were extremely happy with the service and attention to detail for which HSL is renowned.

HSL Supplies Lighting for Nabucco at Masada

Blackburn, UK, based lighting rental company HSL supplied all stage lighting equipment and crew to the acclaimed Israeli Opera production of Verdi’s Nabucco, staged at a new purpose-built open air site in the middle of the desert on the World Heritage site of Masada Mountain …. by the Dead Sea in Israel.

HSL was brought onboard by Jerusalem and Tel Aviv based Stage Design, who supplied all the technical infrastructure for the high profile 6 day event, and built most of the site. It was the first time the two companies had collaborated, which happened after HSL came highly recommended by several contacts.

HSL’s project manager Mike Oates says, “We were delighted to win the contract. Working with the Stage Design team has been a real pleasure. They have the same vision and dedication to providing great service, cutting edge technology and top people as we do. There were many challenges, but that is all part of the uniqueness of dealing with site specific events”.

HSL Supplies Lighting for Global Gathering 2010

Blackburn, UK based lighting rental company HSL has again supplied site-wide lighting equipment for the high profile Global Gathering dance festival, staged at Long Marsden Airfield in Warwickshire.

 

For the third year running HSL was working for Electric Fly Productions, whose Philip Winward and Nick Jevons created the production lighting, video and show designs for the main stage, 4 indoor arenas, 2 terrace lounges and the VIP zone, working for promoters Angel Music.

 

HSL’s Tim Fawkes managed the project , which involved 5 x 45ft trailer loads of kit, including trussing and rigging, which he also co-ordinated on site, in close collaboration with Electric Fly’s hand-picked crew of lighting technicians/operators and riggers.

 

“HSL as always have provided brilliant service, great value and immaculate equipment,” comments Jevons, “We could not do a production of this scale without this level of excellence”. Also supporting the event with equipment were key manufacturers including Avolites, i-Pix, Green Hippo, Martin Professional and Robe.

HSL Goes Global Again

Leading UK lighting rental company HSL supplied site wide equipment for the main stage, 5 indoor arenas and 2 outdoor terraces at the 2009 Global Gathering dance extravaganza, staged at Long Marsden Airfield in Warwickshire.

Once again, HSL was working for Electric Fly Productions, whose Nick Jevons and Phil Winward created the lighting and show design for all these areas, working for promoters Angel Music. Mike Oates managed the project – which utilised over 200 Robe moving lights and 130 strobes – with Tim Fawkes representing the Blackburn based company on site. He worked alongside Electric Fly’s hand-picked crew of 14 lighting technicians/operators, and 8 riggers.

“The package and service from HSL was amazing as usual,” says Jevons, “All the kit was in great condition and they did everything possible in a great value deal that really enhanced our creative options”.
