HSL Supplies Final Winter Snow
Blackburn, UK based lighting rental company HSL supplied lighting equipment, a Kinesys automation system and crew to the final leg of Snow Patrol’s 2009 world tour, named “Snow Patrol Reworked”. This follows HSL’s servicing of all the band’s UK and European sections across the whole tour, which kicked off in January 09.
Mike Oates project managed for HSL, once again working closely with the tour’s LD Davy Sherwin, production manager Wob Roberts and tour manager Neil Mather. Mike Oates comments, “It’s been really interesting to see how Snow Patrol’s show has evolved and changed over the year. Each section has been unique and different, and of course it’s been excellent working with Wob, Davy and Neil again – they are a great team”.
Sherwin has been equally as happy working with HSL, commenting that “They absolutely rock” as an equipment supplier. Super-service with smiles has always been an HSL benchmark!

HSL Supplies Snow Patrol’s Bangor Homecoming
HSL supplied full lighting production including Robe and Vari*Lite moving lights, 32 3Kw A&O Falcon Beam searchlights and an 18-way Kinesys automation system – plus crew – for Snow Patrol’s amazing homecoming show at Ward Park in Bangor, Northern Ireland.
The event was enjoyed by 30,000 enthusiastic fans and was the band’s finalUKappearance of their phenomenally successful, “Eyes Open” world tour which started last year.
HSL has supplied lighting for allUKand European legs of the tour including a festival rig throughout the summer. For Ward Park, the highly talented creative team of LD Davy Sherwin and visual designer Robin Haddow wanted something different and special, whilst at the same time being related to previous tour aesthetics.
They again came up with an inventive design that seamlessly merged lighting and video into one strongly visual medium.
HSL’s project manager Mike Oates says, “As always, it’s been great working with Davy and Robin – their approach is unique and different and they always come up with original ideas that look stunning”.
The lighting rig was based on four straight trusses fitted into the StageCo roof.

HSL Supplies Snow Patrol
Leading UK lighting and visuals rental company HSL are supplying lighting equipment, a 26-axes Kinesys automation system, all associated trussing and rigging plus crew to Snow Patrol as they embark on the first UK leg of their 2011 “Fallen Empires” world tour.
Lighting designer is Davy Sherwin, who has worked closely with Catalyst and live visuals programmer / visuals operator Robin Haddow and video director Blue Leach. The trio are collectively known as ‘The Art Department’ on the tour, and the stunning and beautifully fluid, intelligently harmonised show is the result of some serious triumvirate creative chemistry.
HSL’s project manager is Mike Oates. He says, “We love working with Davy and Robin and have seen the band’s show and their designs take a real journey and evolution over the last few years. Each tour is always fresh in ideas and this is among the best yet”.
Just as the band have explored new and alternative musical directions with Fallen Empires, their sixth hugely successful studio album, Sherwin’s lighting has moved into a different stratosphere.
