HSL supplied lighting designer Tom Lesh with a 60 ft wide by 30 foot high SoftLED backdrop for Texas's recent UK and European tour.
Lesh used the SoftLED to spectacular effect as a giant moving backdrop, introducing a new dimension of colour, movement and illumination to the stage. He used a Catalyst digital media server to create and store all the content, and his 'less is more' approach certainly paid off in terms of visual impact.
He used plenty of simple, bold effects that he knew would look good on a low resolution surface, including the Texas logo. "The SoftLED certainly gives you a massive paint box to play with" he comments
HSL also supplied technician Graeme Ramsdale to look after the SoftLED, which is robustly made to withstand the rigours of the road!
HSL was the first UK lighting company to invest in Main Light Industries' SoftLED, since when it has been constantly in use on numerous live shows and TV productions. There's now 250 Square Metres of SoftLED available for hire from HSL's rental stock.
