HSL Training Initiative Launched

training-and-development

Leading UK production lighting and visuals rental specialist HSL has appointed Jeff Demain to co-ordinate the establishment of a comprehensive training infrastructure and organise a series of training related opportunities initiated by the company.

This includes further development of the state-of-the-art training centre at HSL’s extensive premises in Blackburn which will be launched later in the year, with a number of dedicated fully equipped spaces allocated to serve different training needs.

Training and offering individuals a means of achieving qualifications is an integral part of MD Simon Stuart’s vision for HSL’s immediate and long term future as an innovator and a market leading in live event technical production and delivery.

Jeff’s initial tasks will include developing a training event schedule to be hosted in Blackburn and sourcing the teams to deliver these successfully and meaningfully. Some courses will be aligned with industry manufacturers while others will involve recognised accreditation bodiesIMG_7237 smaller

“Right now we’re establishing a list of training and topics to be offered which will be related to demand” explains Jeff, adding that this is currently being assessed utilizing several levels of interaction and dialogue via ongoing contacts and conversations as well as feedback and opinions garnered from social media and other communication channels.

“With multiple options, we can then tailor the active course programme to current needs and attendee availability” elucidated Jeff.

Topics will include Rigging Console Programming, Network Setup, various product-specific training, WYSIWYG & CAD visualisation and statutory courses like First Aid, BS 7909 (managing temporary electrical installations for events) and the Safe Contractor Scheme (SCS).

At the heart of the programme is a commitment to presenting the training in an enjoyable, invigorating and fun environment. The goal is to promote learning in an inclusive atmosphere and empower participants to push and challenge themselves further.training room

Says Simon, “There’s a shortage of qualified technicians in certain areas and we want to help fill that gap and encourage individuals to gain a raft of tools to help further their professional careers”.

The HSL Group’s main HQ in Blackburn will be the core of the training – ideally placed to serve most of the major cities in the north of the country.

The plan is then to roll out the facilities and opportunities across other companies in the Group, including Production Services Ireland (PSI) in Belfast and Dublin and GLS in Southampton, making it easily accessible across a huge geographical area.
